In 1977 the ‘Voyager’ spacecraft was launched on its journey of discovery to the outer edges of the solar system.

It is now 12 billion miles from home, the furthest anything has ever travelled and has tipped into Interstellar space. Attached to the outside is a ‘Golden Record’, a time capsule containing sounds and music from Earth should it meet anyone along the way.

Inspired by these remarkable events award nominated Idle Motion will begin on earth, following three individual journeys of those looking beyond our own world out into the darkness.

Using their stunning blend of multimedia, inventive staging and physicality ‘Voyager’ will reflect upon humanity’s relationship with space, how we have always looked to the sky for answers and our ambition to step out into the unknown.

Idle Motion are a New Diorama Resident Ensemble. This production is supported by the New Diorama Emerging Companies Fund, The Lowry, Salford, Greenwich Theatre and supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

This production is part of A Nation's Theatre Festival – a celebration of UK creativity. Theatre-makers from outside London will be presenting and developing shows across the capital in April–May 2016.
