Tuesday 23rd April saw New Diorama host a performance of The Universal Machine to staff and volunteers of Bletchley Park, members of the Turing Centenary Committee, as well as relatives of Turing himself.

Whole Hog Theatre’s production of Princess Mononoke is transferring to the AiiA Theatre in Tokyo to run from 29th April – 6th May. It has been 16 years since the film was originally released in Japan and established a box office record of 19.3 billion yen.

New Diorama Theatre and NDT Resident Ensemble PIT have won the 2013 Les Enfants Terribles Prize for their upcoming Edinburgh show, Kubrick³.
Written and Directed by David Byrne, Kubrick³ is created by PIT and NDT, co-produced by Greenwich Theatre and Flavia Fraser-Cannon, and will premiere at Pleasance, Edinburgh in August of this year.

New Diorama Theatre and resident ensemble PIT’s second show for 2013, Kubrick³, has been shortlisted for the 2013 Les Enfants Terribles Award. Kubrick³ is to be performed at the Edinburgh Festival 2013 and is being co-produced with Greenwich Theatre.
Kubrick³ is down to the final 10 for the award and the team are currently preparing for the deciding showcase at Pleasance, Islington on February 15th. The recipient of the award is gifted with funding assistance and a guaranteed slot at Pleasance, Edinburgh, during the festival.

New Diorama Theatre, working with resident company PIT, will open their second in-house production: a musical about the life and death of Alan Turing entitled The Universal Machine. The production will run for four weeks through April and May 2013.
Written and directed by New Diorama and PIT Artistic Director, David Byrne, with music by Night Engine’s Dominic Brennan, The Universal Machine is a new musical based on the life and death of Alan Turing. Charting his school days at Sherbourne, through his time at the infamous Station X at Bletchley Park and to his ultimate arrest for homosexuality and tragic death, The Universal Machine tells the complete story of one of the last Century’s most important men.

New Diorama Associates, Idle Motion, supported by the British Council, were invited to take their Edinburgh Fringe-winning production, The Vanishing Horizon, out on tour to the Middle East and Asia in 2012.

After a sell out run in early January 2012 at New Diorama Theatre, one of three shows in their first Rep Season, The Faction’s mesmerizing Mary Stuart transferred to Qatar’s recently re-furbished National Theatre of Qatar in Doha, before returning to New Diorama Theatre for a second run in September 2012.
Invited by the Qatar Embassy in London, the Faction performed their highly successful production of Schiller’s Mary Stuart, a new, premiere translation by Mark Leipacher and Danny Millar, at the historic venue. This was a first international outing as part of a national tour, for this exciting emerging company.

Award Winning Whole Hog Theatre, with the cooperation of Studio Ghibli, are presenting the world’s first theatrical staging of Miyazaki’s renowned animated film, Princess Mononoke, in April of this year.
With tickets going on sale at the launch of the season in September 2012, New Diorama Theatre witnessed a record-breaking Box Office feat, with all tickets being snapped up in a remarkable 72 hours!
