The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, is a vital showcase and opportunity for artists, however, every year, it becomes more difficult for early and mid-career artists to take their work to the Fringe – especially groups who aren’t presenting solo shows.
Untapped by Underbelly, New Diorama Theatre and Oberon Books is the most ambitious opportunity on offer to take exceptional work to the Edinburgh Festival.
We're undertaking a nationwide search to find three of the best early-career, and more established mid-career, theatre companies who want to present work at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Please take time to read the FAQs about the award at the bottom of this page before applying to make sure you are eligible.
How It Works
The Best Early & Mid-Career Companies
After a nationwide search among the best early-career, and more established mid-career, companies, we select three groups.
An Incredible Deal & Venue
Working with Underbelly, we’ll secure a great venue & time for each show, with each company receiving an enhanced 65/35 box offce split with no venue deposit or guarantee.
A Cash Investment
As well as a great slot at Underbelly, companies will receive £4,500 in cash towards their travel and accommodation.
Press & Marketing
We will provide free press and marketing support, seven hours of festival flyering each day for all groups, outdoor poster boards and production photography.
Each selected show will recieve a fully-funded captioned performance at the Edinburgh Festival, and we'll ensure that at one performance per run is relaxed.
New for 2020, the three chosen companies will have the option to have their production published by Oberon Books including a separate commission fee and agreement beyond the award.
