It's True, It's True, It's True transfers to the Barbican

Breach Theatre's It's True, It's True, It's True transfers to the Barbican as part of their Theatre and Dance programme for January to August 2020.

The gripping dramatisation of the 1612 rape trial brought by the gifted painter Artemisia Gentileschi won our 2018 Untapped Award with Underbelly and premiered to critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe before transferring to NDT for a sell-out run in Autumn. Since opening last summer It's True, It's True, It's True has won a Scotsman Fringe First and a Stage Edinburgh Award. It's currently on a national tour - full list of dates here.

This is the first time an NDT show has transferred to the Barbican and we're incredibly proud of Breach who have been part of the NDT family for a long time. We first met them when they applied for our NSDF Pickles Fund in 2015/16 which supported them in taking The Beanfield to NSDF. They completed our Emerging Companies programme in 2016/17. We're delighted to have supported all Breach productions since then and this year they became one of our five Associate Ensembles.

We have commissioned Breach's latest show Joan of Leeds which will run at NDT this Christmas. An obscene medieval mystery play with live music, based on the miraculous true story of a 14th century nun on the run. In their first Christmas show Breach take us into the world of Joan, a 14th century nun living in Leeds. Joan is blessed with unholy visions. A seductive serpent and sinful saints exalt the earthly pleasures of forbidden sex. Her visions cause a scandal in the order but Joan’s determined to spread her new carnal creed... even if it means getting a little creative. Read more here.
