Collapse, resistance, and what comes after.

From the rivers of Latin America to the banks of the Thames, spanning tropical-punk and electro-folk, a season taking you into the depths of the wreckage and back again.

New Diorama Theatre today announces the on sale of two brand new productions from trailblazing theatre companies for Autumn 2025.

Following the multi-award-winning REWIND (Guardian best shows of 2024), Ephemeral Ensemble return to NDT with brand new show UPROOTED — a tropical-punk, ecofeminist, rallying cry inspired by the voices of displaced peoples and frontline environmental defenders in Latin America and beyond.

Then, continuing NDT’s track record for pioneering new musicals, Precipice by Timelapse plunges into the 400-year fallout of a biomedical catastrophe, set against the sound of an original electro-folk score. Collaboratively written with six creators, including an Olivier award-winner, this project was borne of the venue’s post pandemic shutdown Intervention01, to explore new ways of making work for the future. Tracing rising tides as power fails and two timelines converge in a single flat — where yesterday’s mistakes become tomorrow’s reckonings.

Speaking about the season, Head of Programme Emma Clark says: “During an intensely challenging moment for independent ensembles, we are so proud to be presenting the work of Ephemeral Ensemble and Timelapse, two bold and distinctive companies with fiercely passionate visions for what is possible within theatre making and the wider world. These poetic, humane, and wildly theatrical new shows dive headfirst into the systems we are all entangled in, pushing past collapse toward hopeful, rewilded futures.”

On the banks of rivers flowing through Latin America, steel blades arrive to tear up the roots of communities. While territories are carved up by contracts inked in blood, floodwaters disappear homes and people.

Raging against the machinery of colonial capitalism, UPROOTED is a tropical-punk, ecofeminist rallying cry inspired by the voices of displaced peoples and frontline environmental defenders.

Through fierce physicality, searing visuals, and bone-stirring music, award-winning Ephemeral Ensemble excavate unseen networks of oppression and resistance to sow the seeds of a future that is wilder, interconnected, and defiantly alive.

PRECIPICE - Timelapse

11 November - 13 December 2025

Centuries apart, the residents of a towering high-rise arrive at a crossroads, taking shelter along the riverbank in Greenwich – the place where time begins and the world ends.

In the near present, a biomedical emergency drives a young couple to confront their own complicity in the face of impending catastrophe.

Four hundred years from now, those who remain celebrate their survival, while long buried truths threaten to unravel their carefully constructed way of life.

As the tides rise and the power fails, two timelines converge in a single flat, where yesterday’s mistakes become tomorrow’s reckonings.

A darkly funny new musical with a thrilling electro-folk score, Precipice is a story of crisis, humanity, and hope at the edge of disaster.

Precipice is the debut show from Timelapse, created collaboratively by Stu Barter (Talkshow), Rachel Bellman (These Demons), Darren Clark (Olivier winner for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Annabelle Lee Revak (Windsong), Shaye Poulton Richards (Lies All The Way Down), and Timelapse Artistic Director Adam Lenson (Cable Street).
