New Faces at NDT

We're delighted to welcome three new members to Team NDT.

As we plan our reopening we're welcoming Reece McMahon (left) as Producer, Nikhil Vyas (centre) as Executive Assistant to the Artistic & Executive Director and Shankho Chaudhuri (right) as Staff Associate Designer.

Reece will produce our in house work, support our Artist Development programme and work on our community projects.

Reece is an interdisciplinary arts producer working across theatre, dance, live and outdoor arts. Initially training as a contemporary-ballet dancer, he re-focused his skillset to take up a career in producing. As well as working with a range of independent artists, he has produced with companies such as OutdoorArtsUK, Pleasance Theatre, Good Enough Mums Club, Avant Garde Dance Company, Museum of Homelessness and was previously Assistant Producer at The Place.

Nikhil joins us for the next two months as we plan our reopening and will support David our Artistic & Executive Director in planning a new season of work.

Nikhil is a theatre artist from South London.

His work involves directing new theatrical writing, making collaborative performance projects and interactive media, choreography, dramaturgy, and facilitation. He has trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Siobhan Davies Dance, and is the Artistic Director of Trip Hazards, a theatre company. He is currently a supported artist on The Lowry’s ‘Class Of 2020’ Scheme. His work has been developed and presented at the Young Vic, Camden People’s Theatre, Siobhan Davies Studios, The Yard Theatre, the Wardrobe Theatre, The Lowry and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Shankho's new role will put design at the heart of everything we do at NDT. He will be with us for two days a week for the next year.

Shankho is a Set, Video, VR and Graphic Designer, based in London.

He graduated from Imperial College London with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering, followed by an MA MSc in Global Innovation Design (Royal College of Art & Imperial College London). He began designing for Imperial College's Musical Theatre Society, which started him on a path exploring AR and VR in set design as part of his postgraduate research at the RCA, followed by an eventual jump into freelance production design.

Previous work includes White Noise by New Public & WOOD by Grace Duggan & Adam Foster, both at VAULT Festival 2019, and Poltergeist Theatre's sell-out Edinburgh show, Art Heist. In September 2019, Shankho joined the National Theatre as their resident Production Design Assistant, for which he assisted ULTZ and Sadeysa Greenaway-Bailey on both Death of England and sequel Death of England: Delroy, as well as designing the second iteration of the Immersive Storytelling Studio's VR piece, All Kinds of Limbo.

He is an associate of Poltergeist Theatre, and later this year, as part of their Design Collective, will be delivering Living Newspaper at the Royal Court.
