Operation Mincemeat win a Stage Debut Award

SpitLip won The Stage Debut Award for Best Composer or Lyricist at the 2019 Stage Debut Awards.

At The Stage Debut Awards 2019 our favourite musical comedy geniuses bagged the top prize beating nominees including: AnaÃ¯s Mitchell for Hadestown at the National Theatre, Oran Eldor and Marcus Stevens for Mythic the Musical at the Charing Cross Theatre and Femi Temowo for Death of a Salesman at the Young Vic.

"It’s a dream to be nominated among the kind of people we were in a category with, frankly, on our first try. So we’re just absolutely blown away and over the moon."

The win comes off the back of Tim Bano's five star review of Operation Mincemeat in The Stage describing the show as a "masterclass of macabre musical comedy about a corpse that helped win the Second World War". You can read the full review here.

In addition to The Stage Debut Award, Operation Mincemeat has been nominated for Five Off-West End awards including:

Best New Musical
Best Company Ensemble
Best Set Design (Helen Coyston)
Best Musical Director (Felix Hagan)
Best Sound Design (Dan Balfour)

Alongside that, the production is nominated for Best Off-West End Show at the West End Wilma Awards and the Lighting Design by Sherry Coenen has been nominated for a Knight of Illumination Award.

Operation Mincemeat was comissioned by New Diorama Theatre, and co-commissioned by The Lowry.
