Ask us anything.
As support for theatre makers becomes increasingly scant, we’re hearing more than ever from artists reaching out for advice, a sounding board, or just a conversation about next steps.
That’s why we offer regular surgeries: a chance to meet the New Diorama team and chat about what’s on your mind. We run two kinds of surgery — Artist Surgeries and Company Formation Surgeries.
Artist Surgeries are open to anyone looking for guidance, advice, or a chat with someone from the team.
Company Formation Surgeries are open to anyone looking to talk more specifically about the nuts and bolts of setting up your own company, covering everything from first steps to legal status.
You’ll find more details about what each surgery offers below, as well as when they take place and how to book.
Artist Surgeries
Once a month, NDT opens its doors to anyone outside of our current artist support programmes to come in for a chat.
Topics could include producing, fundraising, marketing, art-making, career trajectory, why so many men in theatre wear those same round glasses – anything where a 20-minute conversation with our team might genuinely help or provide a useful sounding board. It may be useful to keep in mind that we are a London-based makers’ theatre and are best positioned to advise artists working or aspiring to work in this way.
Slots are in-person at the New Diorama Theatre Café (15-16 Triton Street, London NW1 3BF), and coffee is on us!
How it Works
Slots are first-come, first-served and the booking portal will generally open two weeks in advance of each surgery date (listed below). There is no formal application process - you simply need to tell us your name, email and 1-2 lines about what you're hoping to discuss.
Please keep in mind that these surgeries are best geared toward single topics or a contained set of questions. We are unable to engage with programming proposals, pitches, or feedback on your work during that time. If you’d like to find out how to have a conversation related to programming, visit Bring Your Work to NDT.

Book Here
Surgeries are by default in-person. If, for access reasons, you’d like to conduct a surgery online, please book in via the link, noting your desire for a digital surgery under the question: ‘Do you have any access requirements?’ and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Once you've booked, you'll receive an email confirmation. We’ll be in touch closer to the day to confirm which staff member you'll meet.
Company Formation Surgeries
NEW FOR 2025! This autumn, we'll be offering bespoke advice sessions with NDT Finance Manager Jo Salkilld covering all things company formation. Whether you're looking to limit your liability, raise money from a wider variety of sources, or lock down your collaborators and make it official (legally speaking), these sessions are for you to ask all of your burning questions about the practical side of formalising your business.
Things we can chat about include choosing the best company legal structure for your circumstances, the Companies House registration process, or changing your company's legal status if it's not quite right for where you're at.
How it Works
Surgeries last one hour and take place on Wednesday afternoons on Zoom. We'll need you fill out a short form with information on your company, in order to help Jo prepare for your session.
Booking will take place on an ad hoc, rolling basis. All you need to do is fill out the form, and we'll be in touch to arrange your surgery based on the availability you provide us.
How to Book
You can sign up for Company Formation Surgeries at any time using the simple form below. We will then follow up with you directly to schedule your slot.
